A New Beginning

Dated: 6 December 2004

BlackSlate Media Group Limited is the new owner/publishers of the Businessuite. The acquisition heralds a new beginning for the magazine, which come January 2005, will have a completely new look, in terms of its design & contents. The size has already been adjusted, commencing with this issue.

CEO of former owner/publishers, AMK Communications, Aldo Smith, explained the rationale for the change of ownership this way:
"Businessuite evolved from my earlier involvement in a partnership which published the Marketing Management Review magazine. It was a carry-over of a sentimental attachment to business journalism. However, forced to concede that under AMK, publishing a business publication was not consistent with the business model of a full service advertising agency, I took the painful but necessary decision to divest control of the magazine so that AMK could focus on its primary business, that of growing the business and brands of our growing client portfolio."

Since the demise of Mark Ricketts' weekly Money Index magazine, over a decade ago, there has been a void in the scholarly coverage of regular business practices in the setting of the complex Jamaican economic landscape. Businessuite in its new dispensation intends to fill the gap and expand the output.

We invite our subscribers and general readers to hold us to this promise. We want to hear from you often by all the available means of communication. In the meantime, we are proceeding to plan an exciting new edition for January 2005.

We wish you a merry & holy Christmas, and a blessed & peaceful new year!
